Good Morning!

Living and working in NYC can be a very stressful experience and I often work with clients who suffer from anxiety, depression and panic attacks. But rather than immediately turning to antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications, I first recommend a couple of things to help them move to a better feeling place…

Mild, episodic anxiety and depression can be helpful clues in identifying imbalances in your life, signals letting you know that there’s some part of your experience that is not working for your soul. This important information can motivate you to dig deep, facing and making changes that can move your life in a better direction. Keeping this in mind in the future, may help you manage these episodes with better equanimity.

Nutrient imbalances can also alter the way you manage your stress, so making some key changes in your diet would be enormously beneficial!

It’s been proven that sugary, processed foods can alter brain chemistry, aggravating anxiety and depression. So the first thing you’ll want to do is clean up your diet! Eating a whole foods diet can go a long way towards helping you better manage stress so you can set to work on creating a life that feels vibrant to you.

Whole foods also provide a plethora of nutrients that you simply won’t get in packaged, refined foods. And one of the most important nutrients for calming the mind is Magnesium.

This vital mineral is readily depleted in the body by several factors, from common foods and drinks, medications, lifestyle factors, and even stress itself. In fact it’s been estimated that more than half the US population is deficient in this mineral! And it’s not just mood disorders that are impacted by magnesium deficiencies. Heart disease, migraines, bone density and even constipation are all aggravated by this deficiency too.

In today’s video I share with you the many factors that can leach magnesium from your body and the best foods to eat to get more magnesium from your diet. Once you’ve watched I’d love to hear from you! Have you ever corrected a medical issue with magnesium? Did your chronic constipation or headaches disappear after insuring you were getting adequate amounts? Tell me your story in the comments below.
